We Would Love For You to Be Our Guest…
If you are a first time guest to the Church of God and Saints of Christ, you will most likely find it a unique and enjoyable worship experience. Here you will see an overview of what you will find during our services. Feel free to join in and participate with us.
Worship is a very important element of a believer’s life. While there are multiple ways to worship the Lord, worship services provide a means for those of like mind to come together in a public setting to reverence, honor, and praise God.
As a guest, there is no expectation to dress as we do. Most guests tend to dress in business casual attire. Wear what is most comfortable for you. We want you to feel at home and enjoy the worship service with us.
Friday evening service (beginning of the Sabbath) begins at 7:30 pm at most locations. Saturday morning service (Sabbath day worship) begins at 10 am or at 11 am during Daylight Savings Time. Check with the church in your local area for exact service times.
Our service traditionally consists of songs of praise with a capella singing. Depending on the location, music may be incorporated as well. You will find that the majority of our songs have been composed by members of the church, and the lyrics have been excerpted directly from the Bible. You may find a mix of both original compositions and contemporary songs of worship during the service.
The choir is an integral part of our worship service. They help to usher in the Holy Spirit, and provide a joyous worship experience. During the service, the choir performs a symbolic “choir march,” representing the day we receive our crown in glory and bow before the throne of God.
Devotional service is a time when members, as well as visitors, are given the opportunity to share God’s goodness, and express their thanks to Him for the blessings they have received. This part of the service is a combination of songs of praise and testimonies.
We express our worship through testifying of the goodness of God, singing songs of praise, joining together in clapping, prancing and shouting; all in honor and praise to God.
Prayer is a powerful tool, and it is one of the ways we communicate with God. We offer prayer and/or anointing during our services.
The Word of God is necessary for the nourishment of our souls, and it is an important part of our worship service. Sermons are referenced from both the Old and New Testaments.
You will find that most members are in uniform dress. The church’s uniform was originally instituted when the church was founded to reduce the focus on socio-economic class among the membership, and to promote unity. Still today, you will find that we wear our traditional uniform following the thought, purpose, and intent of its meaning. October through May the colors are blue and brown. June through September, the colors are white and blue.
As a guest, there is no expectation to dress as we do. Wear what is most comfortable for you.
