Welcome to our church
Mission ~ Why we exist
The mission of the Church of God and Saints of Christ it to lead people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. It is our purpose, through the Word of God, to transform individuals and elevate them to be responsible, faithful, productive disciples for Christ, just as we are commissioned by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20.
Vision ~ Who we are
As individuals, we strive to be the best that we can be, recognizing that without belief and trust in God, this would not be possible.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33
We work to be a shining light and an example to our fellowman.
Outcome ~ The results we hope for
As Jesus works through us, we can make a difference and we can change lives by proclaiming the Gospel and the good news that impacts the spiritual and physical being of those around us.
The results that we hope for are:
• Strong congregations and churches empowered to carry out true discipleship
• Transformed lives, transformed neighborhoods, and transformed communities.
Friday evening service (beginning of the Sabbath) begins at 7:30 p.m. at most locations.
Saturday morning service (Sabbath day worship) begins at 10:00 am or 11:00 am during Daylight Savings Time. Check with local churches for exact service times.
A Cappella Singing
Our worship service traditionally consists of songs of praise with a cappella singing; depending on the location, music may be incorporated as well. You will find that the majority of our songs have been composed by members of the church, and most have been excerpted directly from the Bible. You may find a mix of both original compositions, as well as contemporary songs of worship during the service.
The choir is an integral part of our worship service. It helps provide a joyous worship and helps usher in the Holy Spirit. The choir also performs a symbolic “choir march,” representing the day we receive our crown in glory and bow before the throne of God.
During devotional service, members as well as visitors, are given the opportunity to share God’s goodness, and express their thanks to Him for blessings they have received. This part of the service is a combination of songs of praise and testimonies.
Expressions of Praise
We express our praise through testifying of the goodness of God; we sing songs of praise; join together clapping, prancing and shouting, all in honor and worship to God.
We know that prayer is a powerful tool and it is our communication with God; we offer prayer and/or anointing during our services.
The Word of God is necessary for the nourishment of our souls and it is an important part of the worship service. Sermons are referenced from both the Old and New Testaments.
You will find that most members are in uniform dress. The church’s uniform was originally instituted when the church was founded to reduce the focus on socio-economic class among the church’s membership and to promote unity. Still today, you will find that we wear our traditional uniform following the thought, purpose, and intent of its meaning. During the winter months (Oct.-May) the colors are blue & brown. During the summer months (June-Sept.) white is worn.
As a visitor, there is no expectation to dress as we do. Wear what is most comfortable for you.
