Sister Elder Ruth Harrison was born in Denton, Maryland and later moved to the state of Delaware where she currently resides. Her love for the Lord and for His word led her to join the Church of God and Saints of Christ in Seaford. It was in the Seaford tabernacle under the leadership of pastor, Evangelist Frank G. Henson that she found a church home where her charitable spirit was welcomed and utilized.

The sister elder, known for her generous spirit and her baking skills, became a loving mother figure to the youth of the church, guiding them in the ways of the Lord with her encouraging words. In addition, she became a stalwart supporter of her pastor, assisting in the running of weekly services and also in tabernacle endeavors such as the annual free Thanksgiving dinner for the community.

Sister Elder Harrison has also served as a tabernacle trustee and a member of the local Sick Committee. Her giving spirit has led her to do volunteer work in hospitals and nursing homes for a number of years. She enjoys activities that help her to grow in the knowledge of the word of God.  She reads books that discuss the bible and as a hobby completes biblical cross word puzzles.

Her favorite scripture is found in Psalm 27: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” It is this truth that has carried the sister elder through diverse trials and tribulations. She continues to walk by faith that is found only in Christ Jesus.
