“For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
Psalm 91:11
Elder Samuel Leon Roberts stands on the firm assurance of this scripture that God will indeed watch over His people. This faith has shaped his identity since he gave his life to Christ at the tender age of twelve.
The elder was born in Chase City, Virginia, and began to pursue musical interests early in life, learning to play the drums as well as the bass and electric guitars—hobbies he still enjoys today.
His life’s journey took him north to New Jersey where he met and married St. Wanda Roberts, with whom he has two children, Andre and Simone. He was introduced to the Church of God and Saints of Christ and felt called to do a work for the Lord in the Jones Street/ Newark tabernacle. There he worked diligently, served as a trustee, and was ordained as a deacon in 1994. Just four years later, he was called into the gospel ministry and appointed pastor.
The elder focuses on bible study, counseling, and attending to the sick and shut-in. He also wishes to develop unique ministries to strengthen men in the gospel and to develop Christ-centered youth.
A member of the Newark Police-Clergy Alliance, Elder Roberts now resides in Plainfield, New Jersey and works professionally in sales and customer service.
