Elder Esther M. Wimbush

Hebrews 5:8-9, “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.”
This scripture, a favorite of Elder Marie Wimbush, celebrates the obedience the Savior demonstrated to His Father. Elder Wimbush desires to live a life of similar dedication to God, thus she is diligent in working to build His kingdom.
The elder was born in Cleveland, OH where she still currently resides. She joined the Church of God and Saints of Christ in 1947 when she was thirteen years old. A soprano singer, she served in the choir for forty three years. In addition, she holds the office of Grand Rosette Maker and Sabbath School Superintendent of her local church in Columbus, Ohio.
In 1952, the elder was joined in marriage to the late Ceizel Wimbush and was blessed with a daughter (Sharon Wimbush-Prince), a grandson (Orlando Wimbush), and great-grandchildren (Jacquenetta and Xavier Wimbush).
Elder Wimbush holds an associate’s degree in early childhood education and a bachelor’s degree in education. She works with young children in a daycare setting.
In 1998, she was appointed sister elder and was later ordained in 2003. Her ministry focuses on bible study and caring for the sick. She includes among her spiritual gifts the ability to help people see God in each other and the ability to pray for others.
Elder Wimbush is a person of many talents including singing, art, and sewing. Primarily she loves to read the bible which guides her life and daily walk with God.
