Elder Marcus Hammonds

Elder Marcus A. Hammonds is a native of Cleveland, Ohio but currently resides in the city of Columbus. In 1948, he joined the Church of God and Saints of Christ in Pittsburgh, PA when he was just twelve years old.
The elder has been blessed with a large family. Together with his wife, Elder Debra Hammonds, he has seven children: Robert, Henry, Adrian, Augustus, Vannessa, Phillip, and Nichole. In addition, he has ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He has shown dedication to his church over the years, serving in many capacities. These include: choir member, assistant shepherd boy, Camp Hebron counselor and accountant, head usher, Sabbath School superintendent, coordinator of New Beginning publications, member of the Milestone Publication staff, Deacon Stephen, Chairman of the Trustee Board, and Chairman of the Board of Elders. He served as Father Abraham for forty-nine years.
The elder entered the ministry in 1998 and focuses his spiritual efforts on hospital visitation and lending general assistance to the sick and shut-in.
Elder Hammonds earned an associate’s degree in accounting, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and completed coursework towards his master’s in business administration. In addition, he served as an adjunct instructor at the university level. He retired in 1997 from the General Motors Corporation where he worked as a Quality Control Technician and Trainer.
Elder Hammonds is currently an associate minister of the Columbus tabernacle and a member of the Berean Fellowship, a local ministerial organization. He participated in biblical study at Cincinnati Bible College and the Moody Bible Institute. The elder continues to serve the Lord with dedication and spirit under his pastor, Bishop Lenton L. Stevens.
