Elder Jerald Barber was born in New Haven, CT where he spent much of his youth. He joined the Church of God and Saints of Christ and there began his spiritual education worshipping in the tabernacle at 109 Beers Street.

The elder later pursued a rigorous higher education and has obtained both law and business degrees. He owns the Williams and Barber Law Firm in New Haven and also serves as Board President of New Life Corporation, a community-based non-profit.

Elder Barber is married to St. Lisa Kimberly Barber and has been blessed with three children: Carolyn, David, and Daniel.

Ordained to the gospel ministry in 1999, the elder has held pivotal roles in the work of the church. He has served as a member of both Founder’s Day and Passover planning committees, is currently an editor of the church’s international newsletter, and is also a local church trustee. In addition, he was appointed to the position of church counselor.

Elder Barber believes his greatest spiritual gift is the study and sharing of the word of God. Thus one of the focal points of his ministry is bible study. He is interested in developing youth ministry as well.

A golfer, chess player, sports fan and avid reader of nonfiction, the elder has varied interests and pursuits. However, the words of his favorite scripture summarize what should be every man’s pursuit. From the prophet Micah, the elder quotes, “What is required of us: to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.”
